Autoimmune Disease and Dehydration

The symptoms of autoimmune disease can be challenging to understand. This is because the body’s immune system is at war with itself, and it can result in a wide variety of symptoms. One of the most common symptoms that people experience is dehydration.

If you don’t get enough water throughout the day, you are likely making your pain worse as your body starts to drain the excess water it needs to fight off dehydration. Water also helps keep your joints flexible and protects your tissues against friction. Reduced inflammation also leads to better mobility of your muscles and body, making it easier to enjoy the hobbies and activities that make you happy and healthy.

Fluids are needed to help your kidneys flush out the harmful toxins that enter your body from free radicals every single day. There are molecules found within water that have antioxidant properties that help to neutralize free radicals and rid them from the body. When dehydrated, your blood circulation slows down, and your lymphatic system no longer produces enough fluid to help support your immune system. This means avoiding the proper water intake means you are only harming your immune system further.

It is evident drinking the right amount of water for your body, and autoimmune disease is crucial to managing your symptoms. Not only that, being constantly dehydrated can be uncomfortable and lead to even more life-threatening complications. Proper hydration supports your immune system and helps fight off free radicals and other harmful toxins that can trigger symptoms of your autoimmune disease. It can also improve your mental health and reduce joint pain by reducing inflammation.
